The Biomechanics and Ergonomics group organized the 1st University Sports Competition for Prosthetic Hands, with support from the UJILab Innovació program, coordinated by the Vice-Rector's Office for Innovation, Transfer, and Scientific Dissemination through the INCREA Chair.

The Daidalonic UPV team, from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, participated in the competition with two prosthetic designs, and the UJI-Hand team, from the Jaume I University, participated with one design. The prostheses were used by pilots with an upper limb amputation or congenital malformation in a circuit with 14 tests involving grasping objects and performing activities of daily living, which they had to complete within a maximum time of 15 minutes.

The winner was the UJI-Hand team, whose academic director is Imma Llop. Its pilot, José María Valladolid, successfully completed 11 of the 14 grip tests using the prosthesis developed by the team.

Also participating in the event were the well-known prosthesis user Carla Maronda and Carlos Contreras, a member of the Spanish association Ayudame 3D, dedicated to developing low-cost prosthetics for users around the world.
